BTW IN THE HEIGHTS SPONSORSHIP
In The Heights was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, of “Hamilton” fame, while a college student at Wesleyan. It tells the story of the Washington Heights neighborhood of northern Manhattan, whose residents are primarily from the Dominican Republic, and where Spanish is often heard on the streets and in the “bodegas” (small shops). The characters, including Usnavi, named after a ship his parents saw when arriving in the United States (“US Navy”) and Nina, a Stanford student, have to react to their rapidly-changing world, and decide how best to follow their dreams. The show won Tony awards in 2008 for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.
Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts is pleased to be presenting In The Heights. Our production of this captivating musical will be an all-school production, involving students from all four clusters: music, dance, theater and visual arts. The BTW performances of In The Heights will be held September 14-17 and 21-24. The shows will sell out quickly!. This musical is our annual fundraiser for the schools PTSA.
